Our 4 step session programme
Session 1 – Happy Exploration
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes
The goal of this initial visit is all about positive exposure and making our salon a fun, friendly place for your puppy. We want them to feel completely at ease before any actual grooming begins. This crucial first visit builds a positive, safe grooming foundation. We can’t wait to meet your pup!
What to expect
- Free-Range Fun: Your puppy will have an hour to explore our secure salon and garden areas at their own pace. This helps them get used to the new sights, sounds, and smells in a relaxed, non-pressured environment.
- Friendly Introductions: Our three well-socialized resident dogs will be on hand to greet and play with your puppy (if appropriate and supervised). This provides a wonderful opportunity for positive social interaction and helps your puppy feel part of the pack.
- Positive Association: We’ll use this time to introduce the grooming environment in a super positive way. Think plenty of praise, gentle encouragement, and perhaps a few tasty treats to create happy memories.
- No Pressure: There’s absolutely no grooming involved in this session. It’s purely about exploration, comfort, and building trust.
Session 2 – Introduction To Bath Time
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes
This session is designed to make bath time and essential hygiene grooming a positive and calm part of your puppy’s grooming journey, building confidence with every gentle step. Our goal is to make this a happy, reassuring, and foundational experience that sets your little one up for a lifetime of ease during grooming!
What to expect
- More Exploration & Comfort: We’ll start with a little more free-range time in the salon and garden. This helps your puppy settle in, reinforce those positive feelings, and greet our resident dogs, making sure they feel completely at ease before we begin.
- Learning by Watching: This is a key step! One of our calm, well-behaved resident dogs will have their bath and gentle blow-dry first, right in front of your puppy. This allows your little one to:
- Observe and Learn: See how relaxed and comfortable our dog is with the process.
- Acclimate to Sounds: Get accustomed to the gentle sounds of the running water and the low hum of the dryer from a safe distance.
- Build Confidence: Understand that these are normal, non-threatening activities.
- Puppy’s First Spa: Once our resident dog is finished and your puppy has watched, it will be their turn for a gentle bath and a warm, low-setting blow-dry. We’ll make this experience as calm and positive as possible, using puppy-friendly products and lots of soothing praise. Our focus is on making it a comfortable, enjoyable experience, not a rush!
- Gentle Hygiene Trims: In addition to the bath and blow-dry, we’ll also introduce two essential hygiene trims:
- Sanitary Trim: A gentle trim to keep the rear area clean and comfortable.
- Nail Clip: A careful nail trim to maintain healthy paw posture and prevent overgrowth.
- Patience and Praise: Throughout this session, we’ll continue to go at your puppy’s pace, using plenty of positive reinforcement, soothing words, and breaks if needed. Our aim is to make these new experiences as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Session 3: Stepping into Style
Duration: Approximately 90 minutes
Building on the positive experiences of our previous visits, Session 3 introduces your puppy to gentle styling elements, ensuring they continue to feel comfortable and happy with the grooming process. This session helps your puppy become comfortable with the feeling of clippers and scissors in specific areas, laying the groundwork for more comprehensive grooming in the future. We can’t wait to see their happy, freshly groomed face!
What to expect
- Warm Welcome & Familiar Comfort: We’ll start with a little time for your puppy to settle in, explore, and greet our resident dogs. This helps them feel at home and ready for their session.
- Relaxing Bath & Blow Dry: Your puppy will enjoy another gentle bath and warm, low-setting blow-dry, reinforcing that this part of the grooming process is calm and pleasant. We’ll use the same positive reinforcement and comforting techniques as before.
- Introducing Gentle Trims: Once clean and dry, we’ll carefully introduce some of the more delicate grooming aspects:
- Eye Trim: We’ll perform a gentle trim around the eyes to improve visibility and hygiene, always prioritizing your puppy’s comfort and safety.
- Paw & Pad Trim: We’ll also carefully trim the hair on their paws and between their pads. This not only helps with hygiene but also improves traction and comfort for your little one.
- Patience and Praise: Throughout this session, we’ll continue to go at your puppy’s pace, using plenty of positive reinforcement, soothing words, and breaks if needed. Our aim is to make these new experiences as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Session 3: The Full Pamper/First Haircut
Duration: Approximately 90 minutes
Congratulations! In this final session, your puppy will enjoy their first full pampering experience, bringing together everything they’ve learned and making them look and feel fantastic! This session is designed to be a positive culmination of their grooming journey with us. Your puppy should have a solid, positive foundation for a lifetime of happy grooming! We’re so proud of their progress and can’t wait to see their transformation!
What to expect
- Warm Welcome & Comfort: We’ll start with familiar free-range time to help your puppy settle in, explore, and greet our resident dogs, ensuring they feel completely relaxed and happy to be here.
- Relaxing Spa Treatment: Your puppy will receive a luxurious bath and a gentle, warm blow-dry. We’ll continue to reinforce positive associations with the sounds and sensations, ensuring they remain calm and comfortable throughout.
- Essential Hygiene Maintenance: Building on previous sessions, we’ll expertly perform their nail clip and sanitary trim, maintaining their cleanliness and comfort.
- Their Very First Haircut! This is the exciting part! Based on your preferences and your puppy’s coat type, they will receive their first full face and body haircut. We’ll work carefully and patiently, using positive reinforcement every step of the way, to ensure it’s a stress-free and positive styling experience. Our goal is to create a look that suits your puppy and helps them feel fabulous.
- Gentle & Positive Approach: Just like in all our sessions, we’ll proceed at your puppy’s pace, taking breaks as needed. Our priority is their comfort and making this a fun, rewarding experience. They’ll leave feeling fresh, confident, and looking their very best!

Handstripping
Handstripping is a specialized, traditional grooming technique perfect for maintaining the natural beauty and health of wire-haired jackets. Please note that due to the specialised skill required, we will only be able to take a limited number of clients at a time.

What it is: Instead of clipping, this meticulous method involves carefully pulling out dead, dull topcoat hairs by hand. This process is comfortable for the dog when done correctly, as the hair is already “blown” or ready to come out.
Benefits: Handstripping preserves the coat’s natural coarse texture, vibrant colour, and proper growth cycle. It helps in developing a healthy, weather-resistant coat and avoids the soft, faded, or ‘blown’ coat often seen in wire-haired breeds that are clipped.
For Which Breeds: Essential for breeds whose coats are designed to be handstripped to maintain breed standards and coat integrity.

A Calm and Focused Environment: For your dog’s safety and to ensure Michael can provide undivided, one-on-one attention without distractions, we kindly request that pet parents are unable to stay in the salon during the groom. Nail Grinding/Dremel Upgrade: $10 (upgrade fee) – Upgrade from a standard nail trim (either an add-on or an included service) to a smooth, rounded finish using a rotary tool. This often allows for nails to be taken shorter more comfortably.
Ear Plucking: $20 – Careful removal of excess hair from the inner ear canal, often recommended for certain breeds to prevent ear infections and improve airflow.
White Bright Shampoo: $5 – An enhancing shampoo designed to brighten and whiten white or light-colored coats, removing yellowing and dullness for a radiant finish.

Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning: Prices vary (Starting from $50 for maintenance) For a brighter, healthier smile! This gentle, non-invasive cleaning helps reduce plaque and tartar.
